1) What class would you recommend for beginners?
All of our classes welcome practitioners of all levels. It may be helpful to start with a slower paced class like Beginners Flow, Restorative or Yin Yoga to become familiar with the most common yoga shapes, also known as asanas.
We also recommend that beginners read this brief resource, “What to expect in your first yoga class at Progress Yoga.”
2) I am not flexible. Can I do yoga?
Of course! Practicing yoga on a regular basis will help you improve flexibility and mobility, and broaden your range of motion. You do not need to be flexible to begin a yoga practice.
If you want to laser focus on flexibility, then the Yin Yoga or Roll & Release classes may be a good match.
3) Which membership option is the best deal?
The most cost effective and risk free membership option is the Monthly Unlimited, “Auto Pay”, Membership, which is $100 per month. This gives students unlimited access to all regularly scheduled classes at Progress Yoga. This month to month membership can be canceled any time.
To sign up for this option, students provide a credit card or debit card. This card is stored in our secure payment system, and automatically charged $100 once per month.
Students may cancel this membership at any time. Once canceled, future months will no longer be charged. Note that refunds will not be given for previous charges, and there is no option to freeze an auto pay membership for travel.
Auto pay membership benefits do not apply to any special classes, workshops or retreats – just the regularly scheduled classes.
4) What health issues could prevent me from practicing yoga?
If you have any health challenges or concerns, please consult with your health care provider before starting any exercise or yoga program. Practicing yoga can help improve your health, when you practice it wisely.
Yoga instructors are often asked for guidance on practicing yoga with varied injuries. Instructors will provide options in some poses, but only you or your health care provider know what’s best for your body.
5) What should I wear to practice yoga
In general, form fitting comfortable clothing is recommended for all classes. Loose clothing (e.g. sweat pants) may impede your ability to move freely into poses. Women often wear stretchy yoga pants or capris, with either a tee shirt, tank top or yoga top. Men often wear shorts and a tee shirt or tank top.
6) May children attend yoga classes?
Yoga students must be 12 years of age or older.
All minors under 18 years old must have a parent/legal guardian sign a waiver prior to practicing. This must be signed in person, in the studio, before the student may practice.
Ages 12 to 15: Waiver is required before practice. Parent or legal guardian must practice with the student.
Ages 16 to 18: Waiver is required before practice. Parent or guardian does not need to be present, as long as the waiver was signed previously.
7) Do you offer discounts or special offers for senior citizens, teachers, the military etc?
No, we do not. Our pricing is very competitive and is the same for all age groups, all professions.. basically all humans!
